This prego momma says, "This baby will be our surprise third. Well, surprise to us, known by God. When I found out, I was in the midst of the Handel's Messiah practice season with the Bakersfield Masterworks Chorale - I just kept hearing the men singing over and over again," The Lord gave the word . . . ." I think the last laugh was on us because we sold or gave away 95% of all our baby stuff after our second. We had to take fertility meds to have her and figured we were getting too old to think about trying that again. I am 38 - not exactly too old, but with health problems, we decided not to try. Surprise! I am alternately thrilled and shocked. Interestingly enough, all three of my kids will be approx 5 years apart. So. once again, as I start my next child homeschooling, there's be a tiny baby come toddler to add to the mix. Never a dull moment! I begin to feel even older when I realize that the only women having children in my church right now are in their early 20's! One is 19, the other 21. I am practically old enough to be their mom (in fact, I am friends with their moms) and here we are, a birthin' together! " Well all I can do is Praise the Lord!!!

Hi sweetie! Baby Center says "29 weeks: Aim a flashlight at your expanding belly this week, and your baby will turn toward the light. It's a sign that her eyesight is maturing. " Is this true? Maybe we'll try it later.
"This trimester promises big gains for you, too. You can expect to put on an average of 11 pounds over the next three months." I shudder to think it. Well, it seems about right - I have only gained 8 pounds so far. Everybody calm down. It's only because I started so overweight. Seems like with Kaitlin, I gained about 15-20 pounds altogether and once she was born (at, no, this is not a typo, 11 pounds, 12 ounces) I weighed about 20 pounds less than I did when I got pregnant. Sounds wonderful at first, but not really the best way to lose weight, at the expense of the baby. I am trying, less than successfully, to limit my simple carbs intake to maybe control the baby size thing a bit. I was never diagnosed with gestational diabetes with Kaitlin. In fact, I had problems with low blood sugar, in part because I couldn't eat meat. But my sugar has tested a bit high this time around and Dr Chris wants me to take it easy on the good stuff. I am thinking, if this can stop me from having one even bigger than Kaitlin, it is worth a try! This having babies at 38 is for the birds! That's just my Kaitlin story. Wait until I mention my Henry story!!!!

Well, just so you know. I can't fit in the booths at IHOP anymore. Not that it's a big let down, considering the meal I actually paid for today. Anyway, it's a good sign that you are strong and healthy sweet baby. A little disconcerting, wondering what's going to happen to my belly in the next couple of months!
